How to buy a home foreclosure By Brandon Schlichter of HER Real Living Many buyers ask me how to buy a foreclosed piece of real estate. It's simpler than most people would imagine, many people seem to believe that foreclosures are elusive and hard to find. Here is a list of the various methods you can use to find foreclosure properties. #1. Try Hud's website at HUD.gov , they can connect you to the asset management company that handles HUD's properties in a particular state. #2. Try your local county municipal websites and/or title companies. Depending on the state of interest, foreclosed properties and sales may be required to be advertized in the paper. Be careful though, becuase some states are required to offer the property at sheriff's auction, if you buy in this circumstance, you will likely be purchasing the property sight-unseen and this can lead to a overpriced home requiring major repair. #3. Talk to a real estate agent - One of the easiest ways to find a foreclosure property is to just contact a real estate agent and have them send you a list.
